An indie passion project for its initial creator, Ben Geisler, Noise Paradox tells the story of two teenagers from warring houses who forge an unlikely alliance. What separates them is their musical differences, and the Noise Paradox: a purported calamity said to befall the world should the musical houses ever intermingle. Alt fashion, club music, and the post-apocalypse merge in the visuals of this project. Throughout its recent visual development I’ve been in charge of art direction, including creating all of our 2D assets for branding and identity.
As DJing was our producer’s primary source of inspiration for the game as a whole I wanted to pay homage to that directly with the logo, which takes the ‘NP’ of our title, sets them askew, and adds the circular motion of a vinyl record. I mocked up a small animation to show the rest of the artistic team how it might look displayed on the startup screen, or at the start of a promotional video.
The game has undergone many UI changes as we refine our gameplay concept, here’s some work on UI concepts and assets that I developed for various iterations of Noise Paradox in its various forms. All 2D elements shown were my contribution.
Including pitch deck pages, graphics for social media, and pertinent concept/2D work.
